XA is a great little camera. Very quiet, still an attention getter imo. Only con I would mention is that with narrow-latitude slide films, the vignetting is more pronounce. When I was at Olympus, we exchanged "dozens" of XAs for people who complained about it. John, www.zuiko.com

I had two, both of which broke down (one developed a problem with the shutter, the other had some bits of plastic get in the film advance mechanism and jam it). They're great little cameras though. I sent both of them off for repairs, tech could only fix the latter one, also had him modify the meter for ASA 1600 film. Sold it not long after to get an R3a, still kind of regret not hanging on to it.

"KODACOLOR VR 100 Film was introduced, utilizing a new T-GRAIN Emulsion Technology, which represented a major break-through in silver-halide emulsions. " KODACOLOR VR films were later renamed KODACOLOR GOLD i.e, your favorite film.
Oh no, I'm disappointed!
I was hoping it was Kodak's newly developed VR vibration reduction film!

John: Dozens out of all the XAs sold ain't bad.
What amazes me about the XA is the long exposure times. I recall one shot where I had an XA on a tripod (a truly comical vision) and photographed a friend of mine sitting near a campfire. IIRC, the shot was on K64, and it was exposed perfectly, with a very long shutter opening. The vignetting wasn't visible, of course, and only enhanced the photo. I don't think the maximum shutter speed is as long as an OM2n or OM4, but it's pretty damn long.

Not necessarily, my favorite is Kodak Gold 200ASA. Not 1000ASA.
I'd like to give that a try though, but most likely anything I can find now is hopelessly expired, which is usually bad for a film at that speed.
