I have two Olympus XAs, one of which consistantly takes photos with a focus point closer than what the rangefinder was focused on. Is there a way to adjust the horizontal alignment on this camera's rangefinder, or should I simply mark it as the 'beater' and use it with small apatures only?

There is an adjsutment but you have to get right inside the camera, removing the botton plate, the clamshell plate, the lens surround plate and finally the top plate. There is a tiny cylindrical metal bit that acts as a click stop for the clamshell and turns the camera on when you open it, that will fall out and get lost unless you do this operation inside a darkroom chemical tray (or the like.) Good luck!

I have the Olympus XA Repair Manual (official) in PDF format. However, it is 6 megs zipped and 8 megs unzipped. I can e-mail it to you off-line, or you can download it like I did from

http://www.kyphoto.com/classics/forum/

It has blow-apart diagrams and everything else you might want to know. After looking at it, I decided to send my XA to a good repair shop!

If you want it, contac mer off-line at pshinkaw@yahoo.com.
