Hello,
I’ve been looking for a repair tech specializing in Olympus cameras.
My Olympus XA has developed the dreaded stuck film advance/ non responsive shutter release problem.
I’ve tried remedies found online which I can detail if you like and even took it to a local repair shop with no success.
Time to find a specialist.
Any pointers, links or referrals would be appreciated

Thanks

I can't help but think buying two or three replacements on eBay would still be cheaper than having one repaired.

Once serviced by a competent repairer the faulty camera should work reliably for many years.
IMO that's far preferable to taking a chance on some unknown quantity on eBay.

Not XA. Those are not as bad as never lasted Minox 35, but same problem. Tiny electronics which are crapping out within of the year and so after real use (not a shelf queen to brag about it on forums).
Last time I checked on repairs of XA, the person who was doing it stated if it is shutter exposure meter fault, it is not reparable.

Just a reminder, XA series are great source for bright lines 35 mm VF.

In USA John Hermanson still repairs Olympus XA as well as OM series.

I came back to this thread and am pleasantly surprised at all the posts!

Thank you for the recommendation Chris, for all the reasons already mentioned, my XA is with John. It will cost as much as a replacement to repair, but I prefer this path.
Looking forward to a functional XA again.
Thanks

Good luck with the repairs. In my limited experience in servicing them, I came away impressed at how tidy the XA internals were, as if it were designed with servicing in mind: I wish that the A16 flash were as tidy!
