Olympus XA shutter button

not terribly easily - it can get finnicky. My recollection is that you need to file a flat surface back into the contact area.

I seem to recall a tutorial around the interweb somewhere, I'll do a search when I get home.

Sometimes it's the release button contacts, disassemble, clean all surfaces and rebuild. Watch out for small parts. If you listen very closely and hear a very faint click when you press the release, it probably means the magnet on the back of the shutter is oily. John, www.zuiko.com

May need to be cleaned

I had the same problem and it turned out to be some corrosion on the contacts under the orange button. I carefully pried up the button, which is glued on, then cleaned the contacts, which did the trick.

Instead of gluing the button back on (because I couldn't find the glue) my wife gave me some sticky wax to use. Works great.
