Anybody has experience using this zoom lens either with an OM1 or m4/3 camera? How is the IQ? Any alternative?

I am thinking of using it with the Panny G1 m4/3 body instead of getting their native zoom lens. Note that I am not concerned with weight difference, AF or stabilizer. At this point, it is tripod only shots not for walking around hand held (native lenses will be much better albeit more expensive).

Thanks.

I used one years ago with an OM1.

With a tripod its image quality varied from good to very good, but was seldom "excellent". To me it lacked a bit of bite, particularly at the longer end, and was less contrasty than most Zuiko lenses. However it rendered out of focus areas attractively (all this is very subjective of course).

You're wise not to want to handhold it: as well as by the size and bulk handling was compromised by its two rings, one for zooming and one for focussing. It's not a "one touch" lens like most zooms of that era.

Regards,
D.

This is a shot I remember taking with it a few years back (hand-held). Good lens, a bit long. These days I favor primes due to speed.
