I received and MR-9 adapter and battery today. I put it into my old OM-1 and according to the meter, it's pretty darn dark for a sunny afternoon in the summer.😡 I took it out and put it in the OM-1 I inherited from mom and suddenly there is light. 😀

The meter works in the first camera, but it reads really low. I don't know what is wrong. I have one clue, but it might not be related. I think the foam in prism is going bad. It looks like I have clear "insect wings" with dried super glue on them in the lower part of the field of view. Could the foam problem affect the meter reading?

The foam needs fixing, because it will continue getting worse, making the viewfinder look nasty....but it is probably not affecting the meter. CdS cells can go bad after time and need replaced. John Hermanson is the guy to have work done on OM gear. He's retired from Olympus, where he was the service manager in the US.

My Om-1's meter started reading four to five stops out totally out of the blue not long after I got it. After a trip to John the meter is extremely accurate ... and he replaced the prism along with a CLA. Worth every cent of what it cost me which was around $200.00 including freight to and from Australia.

A "dead" OM-1/1N meter needle will move, often centering the needle when set to asa 100, shutter speed B and f1.8 (or any asa ss f combination equal to that, asa 400, 1/2 second, f1.8). Actually, an OM-1/1n meter in good working order will center the needle the same way if you leave the switch in"off" position. Other defects may include bad cds cells, bad meter ground. I'd be happy to check it out and repair it if you decide to send it. I still have factory cds cells and meters. John
