I'm expecting an OM 4 kit next week. I was sold as "working" but also "as-is". It looked good in the photos and had enough accessories to justify the purchase.
In the event I want to send it off for a CLA, are there any suggestions as to who to send it to, preferably in the USA?

John at Camtech Services (zuiko.com) does the OM-4 so I understand. I had my OM-1 CLA'd and a new prism fitted by him recently and I couldn't be happier with the work ... the camera is a joy to use.

John Hermanson is the ONLY person in the USA to trust with an OM-4. He did my OM-4T whose mode dial had quit working. I thought it might need the circuit replaced (oh no!) but John said to send it to him, it is probably dirty contacts. It was, he cLAd the camera, fixed the problem and returned it good as new. John is the former service manager of Olympus America.

Hiya Ducky - don't wait for a second opinion, there won't be one. Hermanson is like the best by orders of magnitude when it comes to OM cameras, that's all he does. You want what he calls the "overhaul". Beware, it takes a month or two, but you can buy your way to the top of the list.

Here.

Yes - John Hermanson's work excels.

My OM-4 Ti had a problem where the shutter would not actuate after winding the film to the next exposure. It wasn't every frame, but it kept getting worse.

He fixed it in the time given on his web site, and did it at a reasonable price.

I highly recommend him - actually I wouldn't recommend anywhere else.

Another big fan of John H. Both OM-1's I won on Ebay went straight to John for a CLA before I ever put a roll through them

Great guy, excellent workmanship and very reasonable cost!! There's nothing not to like

Good luck
Paul

Is there a "John Hermanson" of Europe?

Will van Manen, perhaps?

The meter on my OM4Ti consistently underexposes by 2/3 of a stop, and I live with it with EV compensation dial adjustment, but it would be nice to have adjusted properly at some point.

I hang my head in shame. Actually I had forgotten that Olympus made other cameras.

Whoa! My pants are ablaze!

Luton Camera Repairs in the UK have always done good work for me on OM-1s and 2s.

If the UK is not too far away; Keith Leedham repaired my OM4 and I got it back better than ever. Helpful advice, good prices, really fast turnaround and spot on repairs. He never looks at his email much, so better to phone (Monday to Friday).

Never had much luck with Luton Cameras (sorry Ade-Oh).
