Oh boy, I don't have time right now for a thorough post with a picture of the .... ahem... *stable* of Zuiko lenses that have accumulated here during the past months, but I just wanna say: there is still no cure against Zuikoholism ;-)

The latest arrival is a very nice sample of the 100mm f2.8, and it is such a joy to handle and just ... look how stuff looks through this lens. (Like most RFFers I am more a sub-50mm-guy, so 100mm is a bit of an unusual focal length for me. I did once own a 105 2.5 Nikkor, which I liked, but used (and carried) very sparingly. This little gem of a lens is so small and lightweight that I have a feeling it is going to see way more use.)

The 100mm is a pure gem… I love it

I had to make a decision what of my Oly gear acquired during the last months to take on a vacation.

Lenswise I could pick from:

24 2.8
28 2.0
35 2.0 & 2.8
50 1.4 MC, 1.8 silvernose and 3.5 Macro
100 2.8

I went with 24 2.8, 35 f2 and 100 2.8 (not mounted, for special occasions)

My original plan had been to take the 35mm 2.8 as a small walkabout lens, but after some testing I decided to take the 35 f2 as 35 of choice. I expect the 24mm (a focal length that is new to me and that I am looking forward to explore, both for landscape and "street"/environmental) to get the most use.

The 35 2.8 is wonderfully small and light and seems to be nicely flare resistant. I just found out I could nail focus in low light better with the 35 f2, and it seems to be sharper at 2.8, too. Not saying the 35 2.8 isn't a sharp enough lens, but I wanted to minimize the number of lenses I bring and carry, and also not to have to change lenses too often. 28 f2 stayed home since I plan on using the 24mm a lot (there is going to be some scenery and landscape).
Will be interesting to see how often I actually put the 100mm to use, maybe it would have been smart to just toss the 1.8 silver nose in the bag, or bring the 3.5 Macro. But let's see, I have never shot landscape with a 100mm and maybe the opportunity will arise.

Thanks to you all in this wonderful thread for kindling and re-kindling my love for OMs and Zuikos!

I also remembered that Billing Hadley Small inserts fit Lowepro Terraclime 100 bags, and presto, my vacation kit:IMG_0652.jpegIMG_0653.jpeg

One of the main reasons I made the Olympus om my main system, I can carry two bodies and a third lens in a bag. That made switching between focal lengths or films easy.

I hope you used your 24mm extensively. It's a great focal length and the Olympus lens is super sharp.

Love to see your results!

Zuiko 24mm 2.8 MC, Kodak Gold.

Yes, the new to me 24mm f2.8 really turned out to be a keeper. It was my most used lens on the trip, and I don't regret taking it. I used it without hood in mostly bright and sunny conditions, and encountered less flare than I had anticipated. Sharpness is very good, and as you can see above it can even show some nice OOF-areas ;-)
