I'd agree that an OM-1 is best for available light. Leave the flash work to an OM-4. If you are really lucky you will find the original cover that went over the connection to the hotshoe! 😉

Does someone here have experience with the varimagni finder? I thought about getting one for shooting plants and street mainly. Primarily I'm concerned with not knowing if you see the whole scene through it or just magnified ( says in the description 1,2x so thats pretty close to 1:1 , and 2,5x) .

The 1.2x covers the whole screen, while the 2.5x covers a central portion of the screen.

What's the 135mm like compared with the 100mm? The 135mm is cheaper than the 100 on Keh by about $50-60.

I take my OM-1n & OM 2 out as often as possible, but seem to use my E-PL1 the most. But if something like this came down the pike I'd be all over it. We can dream....

What is that grip on this fancy camera? Is it a regular OM accessory that I can find somewhere? This seem to be a perfect grip for my hands!

It is a "regular" OM-3/OM-4 accessory yes (doesn't attach to the older bodies), but rare as hen's teeth... Good luck finding one! The 3Ti/4Ti came with them as standard, although sadly my 3Ti came without.

Its the OM Camera Grip 1, which was made for the OM-3, 4, and 2sp. I have one on each of my OM-4T bodies. It makes the bodies much nicer to hold. Unfortunately, they're rare and expensive now. Can be as much as $75 on ebay.

I've just noticed this thread is up to 1128 posts in a year and a half ... impressive on an RF forum and speaks volumes for the dedicated Oly fans we have here.
From memory the X100 thread hit that count in around two days or less ... which is kind of sickening actually! 😛

that's just unfair from you and you know it. 😀
E.g. my OM-1 is a beater but still a looker as well and, above all, she is a some forty years old lady - let's wait for another forty from now and then we can make some renewed statistics about the prevalence of both. 😛
BTW - I like the idea of the combi viewfinder in the X100 project and I hope it is rather the start of a new big niche and not one of a big rarity. Just add an adequate manual focus aid in the OVF mode and I will consider to think about it.

That grip makes a difference for me in handling the camera. I transplanted it onto my OM-3 from my wife's OM-4 which I sold when she moved to digital.
Ah yes, we film folks cherish and use our tools 30 years after it's made. Let's see in 2040 whether we still hear a peep about the X100. I bet there's still a lot of OM-1's taking pictures then.

I got my 2.8 100mm and my 3.5 28mm Zuiko this week. Today was the only day I had available to do anything with them, and I only had a half an hour. Plus it was a miserable misty day... I was hoping for some fog, but just overcast and mist.
But I love the lenses. Nice and sharp as you'd expect.

I picked up an OM2n last weekend with a 35/3.5 and a 50/1.4 in perfect condition. I've shot a couple rolls with it - just need to process them. I really like the size and smoothness of the camera.
