OM, I've become a Zuikoholic!

Thanks, It's been slow and not predicted to be complete. But...c'est la vie.

Funny how it took 3 days to go bad and 10 months later still not healed.

I was hoping my eyes would outlast film but with all the recent news, that seems doubtful.

But I still have all these great OM's to play with and enough film in the freezer to feed them for a few years! :)
 
Hmmm. I definitely had a 35/2. It was newer looking than the one I'm using now and I THOUGHT it was smaller -- I was surprised at the size of this. Sold the whole set to a Anglo-named, nice guy in Hong Kong who's an RFFer but I cannot remember his name.... Campbell? That's actually more Celt than Anglo but whatever. My new one is 116xxx. Chrome rim. I think my other did not have a chrome ring. But who knows. It was a phenomenal lens. The new one I haven't tried out yet.
 
By the way, the difference between OM1 & 2 versus 3 & 4 for me is the analog needle meter reading in the 1 & 2. I really disliked the LED dots in my OM3 and 4.

I really have the OM bug now. Recently picked up an Oly 24 2.8 and now I just put the winning bid on a black 2n with a 50/1.4 on it.

My chrome 2n now has new light seals and I cleaned it up and blew the dust off the focusing screen. It's like using a brand new camera now.

I didn't plan to buy the second (black) one until I found the camera-lens pair cheaper than buying the lens alone. Not sure if I will keep both or sell one. It's not like I really need a back-up so I might just clean up the black one, decide which I like better, and put the other one on the classifieds.

I am also waiting for an EOS-OM adapter to arrive in the mail and can't wait to see how my 85/2 and 135/2.8 translate into the digital world.

The chrome bodied OM-1's and OM-2's hold up so well. It is like they are all still new, even 35 years later.

They sell for much more affordable prices than the black ones.

And the black bodies can show their age.

BUT, there's nothing more beautiful than an excellent or mint condition black-bodied OM, when you can find one.

I call them Little Treasures.
 
Recently, I decided that I would like to pick up a telephoto zoom to go with my current OM-1 and OM-2 kit, which consists of a 50mm f1.8 and a Vivitar Series 1 28mm f1.9 lenses. Well, I found an ad on craigslist for a 24-48mm f4, 50mm f1.4, 75-150mm, and an OM-1 body for $100. The camera and lenses sat idle for many years as the seller had switched to a digital P&S.

I met up for the seller and it turns out the lenses started to show signs of mold and the shutter is sticky at slower speeds. I was about to back out until the seller offered the entire kit for $20 as we wanted it to go off to someone who would appreciate and use the camera.

Besides the fungus, everything is in very good condition since the seller is the original owner.

So, who would you Zuikoholics recommend for camera CLA and cleaning moldy lenses?

Focal length is a funny thing ... up until a year or so ago I just wasn't comfortable with 35mm. I usually left the house with a 50mm if I was going somewhere where I only wanted to carry a body and one lens. Then I realised I was moving backwards a lot with the 50mm!

Same here.
Also I had read so much from 35/2 beeing poor, but my experience isnt so, I find this lens very usable.
 
I am an idiot. I always read that the Zuiko 35/2.0 was not good so I never sought one out. Their prices were always low - I think due to that reputation.

Now that I see they are fine lenses it is too late as the prices have gone sky high.

It is even hard to find a 35/2.8 for a good price anymore.

Glad to see you back with a OM-1 Helen ... they are a very 'grounding' camera IMO.

I consider mine as my 'photographic baseline' and it always reminds me of what a good camera needs to be ... simple and effective!
