The 180/2.8 is my favorite Zuiko. It's really, really good, and exceptionally compact (smaller than the respective Nikkor, and an ED lens, too).

Nice pic. I don't have one, but this is reportedly a very good lens. However, it is not an ED lens -- the 180mm f2.0 lens is the one with the ED (or LD) element(s). This lens does have some CA though.
 
The 180mm f2.8 does exhibit CA under certain conditions e.g. on the edges of the highlights if a subject is back-lit. It's still a great lens but the CA effect is not so pronounced in other Zuiko primes e.g. the 200mm f4 is better. The thing about all these long lenses (i.e. greater than 100-135mm) is that the handling of the lens limits its performance unless the lens is on a tripod and/or the shutter speed is 1/250 or faster. I always use fast film if I am going to use one of these long lenses. I have the 200mm f4.

I do not own the Zuiko180f2.8. But years ago when I was contemplating a 180mm for my OM system, I went with the Tamron 35th anniverary 180f2.5 cos it is slightly more compact, has internal focus and a very close MFD of 1.2m. Now I have the Zuiko 180f2.0 and its performance on M240 is just amazing. How it resolves the details (even at f2.0) is fantastic! MFD is 1.6m for Zuiko180f2

Yeah, I've heard nothing but good things about this lens... and these pictures totally proved it. Wish I could find one cheaper than they are going for on eBay...
 
I just picked up a borderline ugly OM1n off eBay for peanuts. Unfortunately, while the shutter speeds seem okay (after a bit of exercise), the meter is unresponsive. Tested with Zinc Air battery, which seems like the way to go.

I guess I'll do surgery at some point to determine if it's just a corroded wire.

personally I prefer to use the OM-1 as a meterless camera. the substitute batteries seem OK but the mercury ones do work better. I do happen to have one mercury battery, but Im not sure when or if I will use it.

Thank you, i do all the scanning using a Epson V350. i usually scan 800 or 1200 dpi. A slight adjustments with the scanning tool, i also take good care to keep the negs clean. But scanning that high can often flatten out little parts in the out of focus zones.
