OM, I've become a Zuikoholic!

I also have been smitten.

Buying film for my RB67 in my local store when I spied a pristine and I do mean pristine om-1, 28 f/3.5, 50 f/1.8, 200 f/5 and a 100 f/2.8 all looking untouched from factory....oh and a Lunasix 3 meter all for $400AUD

Of course, what was I supposed to do...had to give them a home...

Coming from a RB67, it is such a tiny kit, more like little jewels, just beautiful.

Very happy camper here.

Yes

I think the previous owner has done a great job of subscribing to the theory of doubling the lens as in 28-50-100-200, mind you it would not seem that they have been used at all.

Will make a change in the darkroom having 36 exposures to my normal 10 from the rb67.

I would love to use a 50mm 1.2 but now I'm loving my 50mm 1.4.

I would love to use a 50mm 1.2 but now I'm loving my 50mm 1.4.

And you are using it to great effect, Shab!
Funny, I was on the lookout for an early 50mm 1.4 Zuiko exactly because I shoot black and white only and tend to like a more vintage look. But then the opportunity arose to buy a multicoated > 1100000 sn 50mm 1.4 and I could not pass it up ;-) So I'll be checking whether it is to my liking, or whether I want something less perfect.

Greetings, Ljós

Ljós, I have two 50mm 1.4: the G. Zuiko and an MC Zuiko, its serial number is 1.078.xxx and it is a diferent lens... it depends on what I'm going to I use one or other... ;-)

Hope to see your photos!

One more from Sweden...

Jumping for love...

Hi Shab, great minds think alike, ahem ;-) Exactly my thinking, to use a late and an early one for different purposes.

The last picture from Sweden reminds me a lot about the lakes I know there, also these little jumping towers. Though this is a big one, with two levels :)

I think this lake picture works so well also because of the black shadow rims of the waves in the foreground, giving a structure to the lake and a diagonal.

Sorry if I missed the information, but I have to ask: do you print in the darkroom, and scan the prints? Or do you scan the negatives?
Greetings, Ljós

Ljós, I agree, the last photo works because of the black shadows of the waves... I took this photo intentionaly. ;-) In this case, I think the sea (it is the Baltic sea) is the "life" and there are lights and shadows... it's like a direct metaphore: the couple trying to jump to the Life...

In this case, photos are scanned directly from negative, but sometimes (when I have TIME) I print them in the darkroom... and it is so diferent! :)

Hugs...

Folks, Shab is so modest. You need to see the second picture after the one shown above, too:

Via a RFFer from Canada I am now the owner of a OM-1 MD which was CLA'd and battery converted by John Hermanson about a year ago. Nice! Very nice indeed.
First order of business was to source an eyepiece diopter (a Nikon diopter for the F-501, F-70 series did the trick) to be able to really get the most out of the splendid viewfinder.

Too busy to print and scan pictures at the moment, but the shooting commences ;-)

Been using the Om-1 for just a few days and already finding myself adjusting the shutterspeed ring by feel. Nice!
I shot a and developed a few films (can't digitize at the moment though, negatives only) to test everything. The 1.8 50 MC Japan that came with the camera is sharp, sharp, sharp.
Unfortunately I had to return an above 1.1 million 50 1.4 and a f2 28mm MC because the former was scratched and fogged and the later was fogged and had small stuff (not dust) inside. But I really liked how small the lens was for being 28mm and f2.
The above 1.1 million 50 1.4 was thus not a great sample, and was clearly less sharp and contrasty than the 1.8 50 up to f4. Seeing how sharp my 1.8 is, the search is on for a nice not-so-sharp-but-good-for-vintage-black-and-white-look 1.4 silvernose.

An interesting thing was to see how different the focusing experience was: the 1.8 was much easier to focus, it "popped" better. Also, the outer microprism ring (the one around the split prism) sometimes didn't really work with the 1.4 in bright light, whereas the 1.8 worked beautifully.
Really love the OM-1, feels very smooth and refined.
Sorry for not contributing with pics - I do not have a film scanner, and at the moment I do not have the time to set up my darkroom.
Greetings, Ljós
