On your quest for a OM body, don't overlook the OM2 - it has some advantages over the 4 - i.e. less battery consumption (half depleted batteries will work fine with the 2 but will not even switch on the 4), brighter viewfinder (no piggy back mirror for spot metering), more smooth advance and silver samples can be had for 1/10 of the OM4 price.
I have them both, I love them both but I somehow I reach for the 2 more often. Your milage might vary thought.

Edit: also the 28 f2.8 is just as great - get the one that is in better shape or cheaper.

Thank you for the suggestions! I think I was drawn to the 4 for the metering; I just don't have a camera with that function, so I thought it would be interesting to try. You are right though, certainly some advantages to the 2!
 
I'm weakening, and being confined to home, with the ability to surf sure gets expensive.
Can anyone please confirm my understanding.
OM4 suffered battery drain, maybe with a fix.
OM4Ti rectified this battery drain, and now doesn't eat batteries?
Is this correct? I have had a couple of OM4Ti's in the past but not long enough to get a feel for the drain (or not).
I'm considering another OM4Ti to give me small/light/convenient, and exposure automation.

yes thats right, the way to check from memory is switch the battery check on the ones without the update the noise just keeps going. You can get good deals on om4s I wouldn't be that worried about battery drain take the battery out if your not going to use the camera (obviously) I have a couple of om4s and its never bothered me.
 
A roll of film just developed from my OM2n reveals in manual mode it is over-exposing by about 1 1/2 stops (just tested against 2 other cameras and my Sekonic). So probably time to retire it, alas. I bought it a couple of years ago for not a huge amount of money to use lenses I had bought new to use with my then OM10, which had sat undiscovered in a box for 35 years.

I doubt I'll replace it.

Might sound like a silly question but what batteries are you using? What you describe happens to me when i use LR44 batteries (even straight out of the box). The OM2n needs SR44 batteries.
Also, in manual mode, if you don't have your eye close to the viewfinder, light gets infrom there and indicates higher exposure.


Edit: Also, the OM2 uses different light cells for manual and different for Auto. The ones used in auto have an excellent reputation for reliability.
