OM Winder 2 acting funny

I hope this is the category for this.

The winder is taking a while to roll the film. I can hear a high pitched scratchy noise (like fast-rewinding an old fashioned audio tape recorders) for an indefinite period of time before the film is rolled.

I've tried changing battery and cleaning the contacts. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

John Hermanson, the guy most of us Olympus fans send our OM bodies to for repair (he's the former repair manager for Olympus America) mentioned this once on the OM email list, which he contributes to often. He says there's a rubber O-ring in the winder that goes bad with age and needs replaced. His website is www.zuiko.com email his or call, it might be the same problem with yours.
