OM1 Grip by chiscocks, on Flickr

Made for me by a flickr member. Really nicely made and makes the camera extra comfortable. I'll let you know how I get on with it as I use it more.

It's made from walnut and wenge which has been oiled and nicely finished. I can't use the self timer (we did discuss the possibility of a cutaway for the lever but didn't bother in the end as I rarely use it)
Cheers

ooooh, I want a hood like that! Only got two f/1.4s though, and perfectly happy with them. What kind of hood is that? Where do I look for one?

The grip is nice, I'm very fond of making little practical accessories out of beautiful woods - don't need one for this particular purpose though, my hands are small and I find my OM-1 perfectly comfortable.

I spent a long time looking for a nice square hood that was the right size, and finally found this on eBay. It's made by Hama and has a really neat clamp system that holds on firm to the lens but leaves the aperture easy to operate.

The ebay listing mentioned it as 'rare' but I guess nearly every ebay auction says that...

Yes the wood grip isn't really necessary as the OM1 feels great without, but I like the look and it makes the camera feel a little more 'organic' somehow!

There's a 52 and a 55mm on ebay - good excuse to but the 55mm f1.2 lens to go with, methinks?

Good excuse, but I'm hunting for a 100mm/2.0 for a non-ridiculous price. In the standard range I've got two 50mm/1.4s (a silvernose and a late MC), a 1.8 and a VERY nice Vivitar 55mm/2.8 1:1macro, so that's kinda covered for now.
Your OM-1 looks a bit like mine (apart from the grip) btw, also black, brassed and with the logo blackened. I need to make its portrait and upload here somewhere.

Sounds good, and yes I'd like to see it!

here's my OM-1

I've also got two chrome OM-2n's, unfortunately all three will need a CLA sometime soon.

The more I look at your grip, the better it looks! Especially with the hood, the cameras now look incomplete. So I guess I'll toy with the idea of a grip, something smaller than the WInder-2...

And I looked at your profile, and found a link to BassChat! That's "the other" forum I frequent, even if I post as little as here :)

I've been very happy with the CV grip from Stephen, after one small mod: drilled and tapped the grip base so it would accept a tripod.

PS: OMZ 100mm lenses, I am delighted with the 100/2.8. Lighter than the f2 and great bokeh.

Nice to see all your cameras.

The wood on my grip is walnut and wenge.

Just got a 28mm f2.8 which the square hood looks great on (50 1.2 is too big for it IMO)

Grip is working well; just been shooting in Wales for a few days and getting used to it (also trying fomapan for the first time)
