OM1n black prism foam

Well i've run out of ideas with this now. Nothing i try seems to work.
It's quite frustrating as i've pulled apart motorbikes an engines with seized bolts in the past and never had this sort of trouble.
In this case nothing seems to work. The socket wrench idea sounded good, but doesnt seem to work as the shutter button is in the way and prevents you from getting any real grip. All types of erasers and rubber end up breaking as i apply lots of downward pressure but nothing unscrews.
I've given up.

Wow, finally i've got it off.
It only took me about a week of trying different tools and techniques.
It wasnt pretty in the end, but i got the damn thing.
I found what may of been the source of the problem. It almost looked as though the thread has had some sort of glue leaked into it. Acting like a loctite. I dont know how it happened, but there was an excessing about of glue on and around the black cap ontop of the lever. Just to make sure i wasnt going crazy, i undid the film advance levers on my other OM bodies and didnt have anywhere near as much trouble as this OM1. They all come of really well, so there must of been somethign different with this particular OM1.
Whilst i had the top cover off i got rid of the the old light seals and took the prism out to clean it properly. Also cleaned up around the winding mechanism gears as they were a little sticky. Everything went back together perfectly and the camera works very well now.

Congratulations, AzzA! Maybe somebody got in there once before, and decided to improve on the original by adding some Locktite.

Fingers crossed for my OM2 - the seller collected it last night and has promised to get back to me early next week.

congrats AzzA, did cleaning the gears cure the double stroke required to cock the shutter? same camera your friend got right? just curious

hehe cheers guys. The more i look at the camera the more i think someone had a go at taking it apart a while ago. The film rewind spool was put on wrong also. So yeah, i wished the previous person didnt touch it!
nobbylon, yep all works now. The gears didnt seem THAT dirty when i was looking at them, but they definately needed a clean and the whole mechanism works so smoothly now im very pleased. This was the camera a friend gave me. I never thought i'd get it working properly it was in such bad condition. I now understand how tough these OM's are, its really impressive.
