OM2 / 2n - Manual 1/60th speed?

On the inside, the OM-2000 is really...uh....not so hot. Cosina design, only has the Olympus name on it. No relation to any Olympus made OM product. No offense intended to those who like it, but it is simply not close in quality to any real OM. Regarding real OM bodies, OM-1 through 2N set to B. Because of the way the winder/motor "punches" the release mechanism, it does set the shutter speed, 1/500th. John

The shutter remains open while the release is held down, correct? So the shutter closes and film advances only after you release the button.
If that's true, any variance by the operator in their press/release gives variance in the shutter speed. 🙂

Yes, the OM-2n (maybe also the OM-2?) has one mechanical speed you can use without batteries - no winder needed (as far as I remember it is 1/180 s):
1. Press the lever to the "Check-Reset" position and hold it
2. Push the shutter release

I know a single mechanical speed is possible on OM-2n; on my defective (non-functioning Auto Mode) one, with no batteries in it, the shutter fires no matter what position the Mode switch is; and it indeed appears to be about 1/180 sec. A 'benefit' of it's broken condition?

Many a good camera has been sold as a broken one because people do not understand this...

Manual 1/60 does not work on the the OM2S if you use a winder or motor drive. The mirror flaps away just fine, the flash triggers but the shutter is not releasing. Don't ask how I know this!!!!
