Hi

I use Olympus OM4Ti , its comes to me in good condition everythings look good but i think this camera have some problem.

i think problem is exposure meter have some error, when
shutter not cock - the meter is works normally, it changes when i point to dark or light source it works well, sound this not a problem.

But when cock up shutter lever , the meter will hang up, no response whatever i do - it's completely hang up. but i can fire shutter release.

This is exposure meter fault? i've ask for many camera store in
Thailand but they cannot fix this problem. I hope you can help me.

Thanks you

Write to John Hermanson, he's an American camera repairman who was the service manager for Olympus USA for many years. He is considered the best Olympus repairman in the USA...he would probably know what is causing it and how much it would cost to fix it. You probably don't want to send it all the way to the USA for repair, but John could probably help you diagnose it and decide if it is worth fixing before you send it to someone. His website is zuiko.com

If its easier you could try Luton Camera Repair in the UK. They specialise in OM as well and I have found them very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I have an OM 4T which has stopped spot metering, so a its due a trip too.

It sounds like you have an electronics fault ratehr than mechanical, which might be costly if the circut board is damaged.

Good luck

Marcus

Try fresh batteries, the OM2 Spot is notorious for chewing up batteries, and is similar to the OM4.Best to leave the little button that lights up the viewfinder alone as it is the main culprit for battery drain on these models.
