Hi,
my two year old Ikon has suffered from an annoying problem,
the on-off switch gets stuck in the "on" or "off" position and is almost impossible to turn. Does anyone has suggestions on what I can do without sending the camera to the service? Otherwise I have to leave it "on" for the rest of the holiday 🙂

Here's a picture with Biogon 35/2 and Fuji Superia 400:

I have used a ZI for 3 years with a non functioning on-off switch. It is always on. I had it for many months before I ever noticed it as I never turn a camera off. It does not run down the battery.

Functionally there is absolutely no need to worry about the non functioning switch so long as it is on. The only reason to fix it is if it one of those nonsensical things that bother you.

Thank you all, I leave it ON and try not to worry about all accidental shots – they are sometimes the best 🙂

Try to get in the habit of winding on when you pick it up and try to remember not to wind on before you put it down/in the bag. Then you'll be fine.

I always wind to the next frame immediately after making an exposure but never have made an accidental exposure or drained the battery. This may be an issue for Leica cameras that does not apply to the Zeiss Ikons.

As always, in the end, everyone should do what works for them. I am just relating my 3 year experience with a ZI that has a non-functioning on/off switch.

Gorgeous photo.

Same thing happened to my Ikon, after I managed to splash it with salt water and it seized up. Zeiss repaired at no charge.

I'd wait until you can be without it for a few weeks and send to Zeiss.
