I am sure that I am not hip, nor do I want to get there, and when was dumbfounded while at the photo plus expo in NYC recently, shooting with my Contax IIa, when a woman said to me, "Cool, that's, like, a hipster camera." If she was a man, I might have slapped her and walked away.

Ok, Pickett Wilson has declared that Leica has potential for being a hipster camera and also that a Contax of early vintage is too hardcore to be a hipster camera.

Well my cousin called my Pentax 6x7 a hipster camera this thanksgiving. Still feeling a little insulted.

God, I know I'm really old, but what the heck is a "hipster"? I'm sure I hang around with the absolutely "wrong crowd" but I've never even heard anyone use the term. Well, not since back in the 1960's anyway.
