How do you work under stress. Tues Morn I was doing some paperwork at the firehall. A call came in for a poss small shed fire with exposure to a house. Daytime call about 5 firefighters radioed in as responding. I rolled the attack pumper and arrived to find a little more then a shed fire. Caught me off guard as it wasn't what I expected. Got one dog and the cat out after stopping the owner going in. Still feel bad about the other dog. Have a look at the video clip on this link.

Wow John.....takes balls to be a firefighter. What a tragedy in Winnipeg....

Wow. That video is terrifying. I roomed with a firefighter in college. I'll never, ever forget the stories he's told. It takes a special constitution to do what you do, and I admire it very much. My stress at work has nothing on that, and no, it's not relative.

My sister is a fire fighter/emt in OR- it's a stressful job no doubt. She's writing an article about just this- what happens inside of you when you see this stuff all the time. She runs, bikes to burn it off.
