On This Earth

I have never been a big fan of wildlife photography, probably for the same reasons that I like RF's - I prefer to get close and interact. In the current issue of Black and White Photography (and Lenswork), I came across Nick Brandt's photos of wildlife in East Africa, from his book "On This Earth" published last month, and the images were simply stunning.

All in monochrome (some IR) and taken with a Pentax 6x7, rather than the usual superzooms, he preferred to get closer to the subjects, and produce "portraits" of the animals in their environment.

Some of the photos can be seen at his WEBSITE. I ended up ordering the book, discounted at AMAZON. Can't wait to get it.
