The last Tsunamis should hit the coast in about 3:15 more hours. These waves are not like the ones that you see in films they are 4 mtrs high and donñt hit all the coast just the ones oriented in a particular way, for instance you can have devastation in a north oriented beach and the one at the south won´t suffer anything.
The alarms worked efficiently and most of the people went to safe spots, Chile has lots of mountains and getting away from danger is relatively easy, thank god we have no places below sea level, "climbing up" to 30 mtrs which is the safe altitud is not difficult.
I´ve lived through 2 major earthquakes and many ones below 8 richter ...i must say is quite an "experience", the last one 8.8 Richter in 2010 was unveliebable...you could see clearly how the land made waves in the plains, terrifying...
