they're a reputable store. Not cheap, but normally not insane prices either. Presumably this is what they believe a military issue camera fetches, altho for that price I'd expect paperwork showing it's factory paint, and hasn't just been spray-painted by Ivan in his garage....
I have dealt with these guys on a number of purchases, and have spoken with them at length by phone regarding classic cameras. They seem like real straight-shooters. They must themselves believe that this is millitary-issue and worth it. I don't know if they're right or wrong, but they are presenting this as a straight-up sale. They are definitely not in the business of ripping people off.
I don't think it is genuine. The star on the front plate looks like a Hollywood cliche. Many parts are still shiny chrome finish, not typical for military equipment.
Probably a well-executed paint job, intended for sale to the Westerners.
I did not intend to imply that the dealer was anything but reputable - one look at the other items on their website shows they are genuine. Yet I do not believe that this camera is authentic for exactly the reasons Varjag cites. I was simply surprised to see what appeared to be an obvious fake offered by an otherwise excellent seller.
