OK today is the day. One day contest, celebrating Summer Solstice.
Take a moment before preparing for your wild celebrations and take a few images today. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere you'll be blessed with a long protracted sunset. With the sun hanging nearly on the horizon for a long time gives way to wonderful studies of contrast with the light filtering through the trees.

Get out there and crank off a few today and post them. I'll be going out for a bit of a walk around.

Too late; that was yesterday. (I'm at GMT +10!) I did shoot a few frames at lunchtime, to see if I've finally managed to find the pinholes in the IVSb shutter, so I'll see if they come out.

Sorry to all those "over there". The thought didn't dawn on me until this afternoon GMT -7.

Don't know if this qualifies as celebrating the summer solstice, but I was out shooting this morning at the Ghost Canal in East Gwillimbury, Ontario.
Looking east along the East holland river around noon.

Summer Solstice, BAH HUMBUG!

While riding my bicycle home from work, (13 km), I got caught in a freak hail storm. Pouring rain and hail, when it was done there was about 2 inches (5cm) of ice pellets on the ground. Looked more like winter. Damn near cold enough too.

Argh! 😕

Hey, go for it, it's a great theme - and if you got snowed out today, maybe the Solstice week Idea will work for you too (works for me). Make it Solstice week (I'm sure no one will notice the inevitable shortening of the days over the next seven), and give us another week to post (for those of us who have to lock ourselves into darkrooms at this time of the year) and I think there'll be some nice shots made. I'm in if it's Solstice week.

OK, Soltice Week it is! Get out there and shoot something that celebrates this week.

Postscript to previous post:
I'm feeling a lot better with a hot shower after I got home from cycling through that reminder that the weather here is extremely variable no matter what time of year.

I'm ready to head back outside, this time complete with a loaded Kiev. The stome has passed and the sun is coming out.

Cheers,

Russ

How about just plain old "Solstice Week"?
Summer or Winter, your choice.
