One Day in the Mississippi Delta

Yes sir, we stayed at the Shack Up Inn last week, great place, Guy is a real cool dude to talk to.

small place: Bill Luckett who owns the Shack Up Inn and Ground Zero Blues Club (along with Morgan Freeman) also owns WABG AM 960 in Greenwood.

Last time I was there was during the day. There were a couple of dozen kids from the college in Cleveland there with a back-hoe and a truck full of water. They dug a big ol' hole, filled it with water/mud and spent the day sloshing around in it. I don't remember the date, but they said they did it every year on that day.

That college in Cleveland is Delta State University, whose mascot is the "Fighting Okra". I wear one of their t-shirts with cool graphics if you can imagine a mean looking fighting okra pod. For those of you not from the south, okra is a vegetable whose taste is not appreciated by everyone.

Dude, terrific! Having spent my share of time in Greenville, I can assert that you've really captured the spirit of the area.

Glad to see our state get attention.
There ARE other areas, too.
Come to Corinth, we'll see Shiloh, go to some antebellum homes, some rural blight, shoot some cotton fields...have a blast.
Might even drag memphis outta Memphis...
