One for the bag gurus - X100s, two conversion lenses and extras... including an iPad

I dont carry an Ipad or anything like it, but I use a Domke F4AF for my daily bag, easily totes an X100 and all its fixings. Its a great size bag for everyday use with no photo items or mixed with a camera or two, but at the same time I could pack a Polaroid 900, Nikon S2 w/grip,35/1.8 135/3.5, X100 w/grip,hood,charger, filter set, along with a single strobe kit like a Vivitar 283 with a simple IR trigger. While still having room for a bottle of soda, your phone and its charger, and whatever you may have in the side pouches and front pocket.

Doesnt exactly fit a 8x10 Portfolio smoothly on the rear sleeve opening, but Ive never really found a good use, your Ipad would probably fit nicely with a case.

if you like the tamracs then look at their 'rally' line of bags too. i have one of them, the rally 5 i think…well made, holds lots including an ipad...

I have a rally 4 for sale in the classifieds. Great bag - it's just that I usually carry my x100 in a sport coat pocket these days!

I got given a Billingham Hadley Pro in black and brown for Christmas and it is easily the best camera bag I've ever owned. I have a multitude of Lowepro and Zkin bags that go back to the early 1990s (replete with horrid ergonomics and materials) and this is just...wow.

They're expensive, but I wouldn't look back. I love how the inner side of the bag gradually forms a mold to your hip that none of my Lowepros ever did. It seems so much smaller when you first pick it up compared to what you can actually hold in it.

It is extortion that they charge extra for the leather shoulder pad but I guess their target market (Apple/Leica) are used to that. It is also quite a heavy bag empty.

For example, I can fit the following into mine:

•Nikon D800e with battery grip
•Nikon D600 OR Zeiss 21mm 2.8 ZF.2 + Sigma 35mm 1.4
•Nikon 60mm 2.8G Micro-Nikkor
•Voigtlander 90mm 3.5 APO
•iPad Mini retina display
•all the memory cards, spare batteries, dust blowers, Lenspens and tweezers and spray bottles I need for food photography

Here's the Think Tank Photo "Mirrorless Mover 30i" loaded up with Sony A7, Summilux-R 50, Summicron-R 90, Elmarit-R 24, Elmar-R 180, three spare batteries, iPad mini, wireless remote, two spare back caps, rain cover, and spare Domke Wrap (medium).

The whole thing weighs 7.6 lbs as you see it.

I really want a Porteen Bag very much.
Its the only bag off all I know that feature this great deviders. Not that mad velcro crap my BBBE and my Ona bag use. Sharp as a knife for the fingers.

Its a dispatch style bag and as such moulds itself comfortably 4o your side,, comes with three internal deviders that can be used in various ways, search youtube there is a couple of great video reviews on there

Ken, I don't have an iPad but the pocket comfortably fits my Samsung Galaxy tablet which is slightly over 10" in width and about 6.8" tall.

Thanks, Andy! I sent Robyn an email after midnight and already heard back from her - she was recommending the medium, too. I'm really liking this bag... my only reservation is the thickness, it's a little thicker than my BBB or BBB-E.

One of the things I like about my Porteen bag is, it feels and looks great while giving me piece of mind about my gear.

My BBB-E is 11" x 9" x about 4.5" at the base of the bag. I still think the Porteen would work well for me.

Did you specify that you were looking for a more masculine bag when you worked up the specs with Robyn? I'm secure in my sexuality, but would prefer something that wasn't too purse-like - your is great.

Hi Ken

Here is my Porteen all chubbed up with gear.
Xpro with 3 lenses. M5 with lens mounted. Alternately I carry an OM with 50 and 100mm instead of the M5. All fit easy.

An iPad fits the interior back pocket. Wish it was a touch larger for my MBA 11" but no go with that laptop.

These images are quickies with my iPhone. The colors are much less warm in reality.
I like the leather flap. The added weight of leather over canvas helps give a bit of structure to either keep the bag open or closed.
It is very well padded and lint free softness inside.

Mine presently has the contents shown plus.... Batteries, X-series Lens adapters, filters, 6 rolls of film etc..
No problem switching out the M5 for a Rolleiflex which to me is a major bonus.
I only carry this when I need to spiff up a bit. When it's a dirty day I use a Canvas bag.
