The best camera is one that still works!
Onya Joe ... I sometimes feel that if I had an RD-1 instead of an M8 I would shoot a lot more digital!
I noticed a beater went for under $1000.00 the other day?

You will of course have to get all new lenses for this kit.

no new lenses, that's my mantra from now on.
what i have now should be perfect for the rd1.
keith, i would get and use the m8 but that would take way too many more paychecks.

That will be a nice Christmas present for yourself. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to get it. BTW what will you do with the DSLR kit you got?

Wow - the holy grail! I know you've been looking forward to this one for a while. Good luck and I hope there's no unexpected bills to delay the purchase.

the 25 and 50 make a great 35/75 combo on the RD-1. Used with a film body, it makes a 2 lens/2 body/4 FL/2 medium way cool kit.
da da da, da da da, da dee da da dahhhhh (jingle bells)

Great news. Could not do without mine. It constantly amazes me with what it picks up. I shot a low light band gig the other day and with the screen not showing, I did not know what I had until I got home. Best of both worlds. You'll love it.

As soon as my M2, M2-R, and M3 bodies wear out I'm going to jump on the digital bandwagon. Maybe treat myself to a brace of M15's for my 100th Birthday.

At Leica's pace, it might be an M12 for your 100th.

Nah! I predict that they'll go back to the old system of naming cameras.. The M2 and M3 had different finders, and now they have three types of finder. The .58 will be an M9, the .72 will be an M10, and the .85 will be an M11. They'll easily be up to M15 by 2040.
