One Morning in Miri (My hometown)

Martin s: I do have a blog. Check out my signature ;)

ethics: Can't believe you've been to miri. It is not exactly a very touristy town. Were you on your way to the caves (niah/mulu)?

Yep, I stopped there after the caves. I caught a public bus out to Hawaii Beach for the afternoon, spent the night in a small Chinese-run hotel, then flew out the next day for Mulu. Originally I was planning on flying back to Miri and then going through Brunei on my way to KK, but the direct flight from Mulu to KK had some extra room so I went with that instead.

I'd really love to go back to Malaysian Borneo, I spent about a month in Sarawak and Sabah and still missed out on a lot. Malaysia's national parks are great (and the accommodation was always clean/good value), and the people are so friendly.

I don't have too many shots from Miri online, does this dragon mural look familiar? I think the temple it was at it was near the hotel.

Here's a cross-processed shot of the beach. Not exactly sure what I was thinking with that crooked horizon :-\

Cool to see shots of my hometown by a fellow RFfer.

Not sure about the dragon mural but the beach definitely looks familiar :)
Haven't been to Hawaii beach for ages myself.

Not sure if this one works as well as #3.
This image is 'busier' thus the geometry is not accented.
