Well, it took me ages to decide and then find what I was looking for. A sonnar copy seemed to be the obvious choice so kept my eyes open for any in decent condition and stumbled on a black Jupiter-3 and took the plunge. Near mint condition for under $100. Focus is very accurate, even on my R-D1 and very smooth. Only strange thing about this lens is that the aperture ring does not 'click' into f stops. It is continuous, so you do have to take your eye away from the camera to open up or stop down. But I'm sure I'll get used to it. Can't wait to test it out on the M2 with the rest of my Kodachrome test roll. Thanks everyone again for your advice. I'm really glad I went with the J-3. Cheap and it seems I got lucky because it's a real performer! These Russian lenses deserve much more cult status than they have at the moment.

You can try Sanders McNew. Last I heard, he was selling one Mint one. PM him.

I'll be the first to add the unhelpful "have you thought of" suggestion:
Have you thought of the 15mm f/4.5 Super-Heliar?

I've got one with a filter ring issue, but otherwise very clean, that I might be interested in selling.
