Are there any legit courses out there for an amateur? I'm looking for something beyond the basics... Anyone have any recommendations?

There's an absolute heap of stuff on Roger Hicks' and Francis Schultz website. You should have a look there first.

If you've mastered the basics, my advice would be to try and narrow down what field(s) of photography interest you and then look for well respected / known pros who run courses in that line.
