Well that was a nice mature and informative response. Presumably I have broken some forum rule or other which I am not aware of. Maybe posted in the wrong area? Not sure to be honest. Perhaps somebody could please enlighten me - especially since my crystal ball is a little clouded at this time of day

Hi Phil,
I took a look at the links you have and I must say that you have some really nice photos. I think the response from the guy above came from you posting an image of yourself, because it is similar to the pictures you see of people on Face-book and other social networking sites. It was probably a knee-jerk reaction to him seeing a picture like that. But anyway, I am glad to hear you are enjoying the m4/3 Panasonic. I believe I will get an Olympus e-pl1 when they come out. I have yet to hear of anyone that purchased a m4/3 camera and did not like it. I am sure some people will come in the future who think their crap, but so far it seems that these little cameras are great for their intended purpose.
And if the photography fanatics on rangefinder-forum think these little digitals are good, Imagine how blown away the picture snappers who have never shot film or used more than a point and shoot digital are!

Don't know of any rule you have broken so far other that to creat lust in those who might be fighting getting the same gear.
I see you are fairly new and have a low post count. If you didn't introduce yourself before and get welcomed; welcome. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Welcome, Phil. I've had a Lumix G1 for a bit over a year (I was an "early adapter") and have subsequently permitted my darkroom to founder with lack of use.
I started out shooting JPEGs, but have subsequently forced myself to shoot RAW only and process them in SilkyPix, which I've found to be pretty easy to use, once I discovered a good method, then output to TIFF and a final resize and/or B/W conversion in PS for output to JPEG.
I use the G1 in A or P modes only, and have mainly used the 20-1.7 Lumix lens, with a bit of Minolta MD manually adapted lenses for good measure.
Hope to see more images soon.

Welcome and I visited your links. Nice work and a good endorsement for the GF1. Now, if you'll excuse me while I apologize to my other gear for lusting after a GF1.

Phil,
Welcome! I enjoyed viewing your galleries. Very nice images. I have had my GF1 about one month now and loving it, too.

Thanks for all your nice comments everyone. I tend not to focus on any one particular area or type of photography but I really am keen to do some B&W home processing.
I have to say the GF1 is growing on me. I miss the compactness of my previous LX3 but I have to say thats offset by the fact that I can now monkey around with other lenses. In particular fastening it to my telescope and grabbing some sunspot shots. I just grabbed a reasonable shot and posted it on my site this morning.
Thanks again.
