OnOne, Nik, LR3 - when to use?

How often do you all use OnOne and/or Nik software?

Cant most of the same changes be made in LR3?

I realize some of the options are only available in OnOne (ie. Edge/Framing or Selective Focus) - but other than that when do you all switch out of LR3?

For personal work I almost never edit outside of LR.

For my commercial work I edit in Photoshop Elements 9 to repair unwanted shadows and other photographer induced flaws. When dynamic range is an issue I use multiple exposure fusion in Photomatix Pro. I also use PTLens Edit to remove wide-angle lens distortion and repair converging verticals. Since LR 3, my use of PTLens had dropped way off.

I use CaptureOne Pro and GraphicConverter. I have LR2 but have not used it enough to get comfortable. I don't know OnOne or Nik...

I only use NIK for quick B+W conversions and LR3 for standard quick color work. Whenever I intend to print a file I always work on it in Photoshop; either for putting the final touch to it (after having started in LR3) or for the complete job from start to finish.

What kind of things can LR3 not do ? What am I missing out on?

I use Lightroom for cataloging, minor adjustments and cropping. Photoshop is much more powerful and fast for cleaning up negatives (i.e. removing dust, color correction, sharpening).

This sums up my usage of LR as well. I use Photoshop on a lot of my film scans, and on any digital image I consider worth showing. As for the Nik and OnOne plugins it really depends on what I'm doing. I've used the OnOne plugins a lot more in the last couple months than I have in the two or so years I've had them. I use at least one of the Nik plugins on nearly every digital image I process.

Something interesting I've found is that even though I tend to do my B&W conversions in Nik Silver Efex Pro, I've started doing the Toning in Photoshop rather than Silver Efex.

I am firmly in the LR does everything I need with analog to digital conversions and RAW files straight out of my Canon 1D Mk III. Period. If I can't make a decent photo with Lightroom I didn't make a decent photo in the camera. I do use two additional inexpensive software titles: LR\Enfuse plugin for Lightroom (exposure & focus blending) and Microsoft ICE for stitching. Enfuse is donationware (inexpensive) and ICE is FREE!

I saw people which use LR3, then export in Nik, Onone or Alienskin plugins.
And it's great results!
