Oops! tips on fishing film out of a canister

Lick it,

Lick it,

I took a short strip of used film, licked it and stuck it into the canister, pulled back and out it came with the rewound film attached to it. Slickest and easiest thing I have seen.

Cheers

Here is my foolproof, patented technique - (Ok I was told this by a young lady at a camera shop this summer when I was looking for a tool)

Take an old piece of film (Tech Pan works best if you got t!! :)) and apply a short piece of double sided scotch tape to each side. Slip it in and push back a ways. Then turn the spindle like you were rewinding, when you feel the retriever film being pulled in you have captured the leader. Pull it out. This works every time.

A little feedback...

I tried the insertion of a spare piece of exposed film into the cannister, after licking it, of course...and IT WORKED!:D

It took a bit of fiddling and I tried it a second time...IT WORKED!

Now, I do not have to worry about swapping a roll midstream. Thanks for the tip!

if the DIY stuff isn't working, just take it to a lab ... i stopped by a lab in town and asked them to pull out the leader for me. 60 seconds later they handed me my film canister, no charge.
