Does anyone know who developed and printed HCB's photo output?

Was it several different photo labs or individuals thru his long career ?

I saw an exhibit once of his photos and was surprised by how many lacked proper focus. That isn't a lab problem, but he should have been using a 28mm if he wasn't even going to try. Also, I read but I can't remember by who that his lab man said: that a lot of the negatives where incorrectly exposed and it was tough to print them. Too bad the lab man didn't have PS. To broaden xayraa33's query maybe to include other photographers dark room workers.

Bill, I hope you are back home soon. Us Californians are used to fire evacuations (no fun).

This wasn't only him... many early photos are this way. Let's remember they were using slooooooooow film, slow shutter speeds, large apertures, and figuring out how to shoot action on the street with new small cameras that had separate rangefinders and viewfinders. Innovation is never perfect...

Also, which 28mm was he going to use in the 1930s? 28mm 6.3 Hektor?

Thank you, Hari and Out To Lunch...that is an amazing article you hyperlinked, Out To Lunch..very informative and a good read.

I remember seeing what was claimed as a genuine HCB print at a camera show in the early 1990s and was not too overly impressed with the printing...good HCB photo yes but the print was nothing to write home about.
