It seems that I only have time to play with the camera when I'm at home, and these are two recent photos I've taken. I like one, and the other is gaining my appreciation, but what do you think?

I like both. Both subjects are very interesting to my eye and since they are at your home, available for continued study. I would shoot them over and again, experimenting with composition and light. Lucky you.

I am not sure about the strip of yellow in the door knob photo. But the refracted light from the knob and light through the key hole are strong elements.

Thanks, Rover. The doorknob is the one I'm not sure if I'll keep or not. Both are color images, but the monochromatic nature of these causes the doorknob to look more like a bad tinting. But, they are in the house so I'll see if they look better tomorrow.

I like the doorknob much better than the other, there are likely a thousand similar to the wire glass photo in clipart graphic design disks. That glass is all over after all. The bubble gives me a headache. No offence. Doorknob RULES!

Purchase a small af point and shoot and take it everywhere, you'll have fun!

I like them both...maybe B&W next time...and maybe a bit closer like Jesse said...
It's neat to find these kinds of things in your own home...

Getting rid of that doorframe was the trick. And I like the wire glass, even with the hole. Imperfections intrigue me.

I like the second one.

I concur that the first should be closer. However, the cropped version could IMHO still benefit from being taken even closer. The knob and the light wouldn't fit into the fram but I think it could make a cool abstract.
