The weather has been cold and soggy lately, so it’s been giving me a case of the GAS. During my “research” I had a nagging thought. Is there SINGLE lens that seems to define the aesthetic and philosophy of each Designer? So, I’m curious what you knowledgeable people think. For example, when I look at Mandlers 75mm summilux photos, it just feels like it is THE definitive lens for him. Someday maybe I’ll splurge on one, but 75mm just isn’t my FL

Zenji Wakimoto designed the 10.5cm f/2.5 Nikkor as well as the 2.1cm f/4 Nikkor.
Yoshiaki Shimizu designed the 58mm f/1.2 NOCT Nikkor.
Werner Wagner designed the 21mm f/3.4 Super Angulon.
Phil Forrest

Paul Rudolph designed the Planar in 1896. He then designed the Tessar, and Ernst Wanderslab and Willy Merté refined it in the 1930s to provide f3.5 and 2.8 designs.

I would say my TWO all time favorite Leica lenses
are the 21 3.4 Super Angulon and the 75 Summikux
Just stellar in creating Atmosphere snd ‘signatures’ that turn me on
I have them no more, but thoroughly enjoyed them

Now I have settled on lenses with less signature in their rendering
I love them for different reasons : 35 2.8 summaron and 40 summicron
