Can someone clarify something for me: I wonder if it would make sense to optimize a Focotar-2 50mm for doing 50X60cm (20X24) prints? I understand Leitz would do this in the past.
I am very pleased with most of my prints on that size, there's sharp grain in the corners. I mostly print the full negative, but I have a few images that need higher enlargement. For this I have found a Rodagon-G 50 mm, which works well. But I would also like to have a Focotar-2 for this purpose.
I lack technical knowledge and understanding, so perhaps the question is not very good . . . but if it is, this is what I am curious about:
- What actually happens when a lens is optimized?
- For which size is the Focotar-2 optimized?
- Can it be calculated what would be needed for 50X60cm?
- Not unimportant: is there any reason to not consider doing this?
Thanks !
Michael
