ebay auction 330560347261. I will be watching to see how much money this Nokton/Canon 7 rig brings. Last time I watched one of these on eBay it sold for $2,700, if I remember correctly. I wouldn't mind having this lens in LTM, but that's a lot of money!
Should be fun to watch.

It's been on auction for 23 hours, already up to $738 dollars.
Oops, I didn't mean to spoil your fun, Roland.
I use one of these made for the Prominent on my Contax RF (with an adapter, of course). Nice lens.

I bought an adapter to use my Prominent 50 Nokton on my LTM cameras. Heck of a lot cheaper. I've had the camera and lens for decades, loved the lens but couldn't stand the camera. Finally found an adapter on eBay last year. Now I'm a happy camper.

As goofy as it sounds, I have used my Nokton for the Prominent with a Canon P, using the Prominent to Contax adapter and an original Orion Contax to LTM adapter. Believe it or not, it focuses accurately wide open.

Watch that step!
Just like the JSK Xenon f1.5/50 in LTM the LTM Nokton's are crazy prices.......... I traded my JSK for that near mint Black Paint Leica MOOLY C motor, so like $3,000+

Well-known
I had one of them in Contax mount with glass separation and scratches on the front element before I got into the whole Contax thing. It went for around $900 in 2009.

lens is up to $1552 with 2 days to go. A bidder with 8 feedbacks is leading the pack, and has consistently refused to be outbid.
I have two Noktons in Prominent mount, use one with an S-Mount adapter and can use the S-Mount to Leica adapter as well. Good lens, one of the best of the 1950s.
I need to hack it into LTM mount. Should not be hard, lots of clearance between the rear element and the film plane. Under $350 for the pair, including the Cameras.

Does anyone have any pics from this lens ? Wonder what the hype is all about.

I believe it was slated to be the replacement of the Contax Sonnar 50/1.5... but the floor fell out from beneath the Contax cameras before this could happen. From images I have seen I have always thought the Sonnar was/is a much better lens.

To resurrect this discussion, are there any LTM adapters you will recommend? I recently got a Prominent with Nokton, and really liked the overall image rendition. The Prominent body is ok, but I would rather use my M3 with adapters. Currently on ebay there is only this Kipon Prominent->LTM adapter. Anyone here has any experience with it? Or should I look somewhere else? Thanks!

Thanks for restarting this thread. I also want an adapter for the Nokton.

Ah looky looky
Excuse my ignorance but if these lenses are so good and fetch so much money, how come no one else has tried to reproduce them?

Voigtlander Prominent nokton 50mm f1.5 on a Nikon S# with the Cosina adapter. It focusses fine with this set-up. I have an Orion type adapter to, but I find it a bit clumsy to use on the M's.
Not a bad lens at all, a bit lower contrast than modern lenses, but nice "bokeh" and smooth tones.

Same reason no-one has re-made Thambars. It would cost more to make a limited run of new lenses than to buy an original.Excuse my ignorance but if these lenses are so good and fetch so much money, how come no one else has tried to reproduce them?
Also, although the Nokton is an excellent lens (I've had two), it's also one of those lenses that is fashionable and desirable because it's rare: some (not all) of its users are seeing what they want to see. Personally I prefer the current 1,5/50 C-Sonnar.
Cheers,
R.
