Original Leica Case - Replacement Strap?

Well, here is the new camera strap I picked up for $20 at the tack shop. The color works great. Who would have thought about reins?

FWIW; I looked around the local flea market and bought a pair of binoculars in a silly plastic case but with a leather strap that was a perfect match. Cost all of a fiver. Gave the bins to the local country park for people to borrow.

Also, nylon straps the right width and in black are easy to find and haberdashers sell nylon black straps by the yard. And cotton ones for old meters...

Dave, I must comment on how WELL that strap matches and blends with your case. Very nice indeed! The original leather straps used by Leitz in the latter century were ( in my opinion) a bit too narrow and thin. My case has it original strap, and while it holds well enough, it certainly wouldn't take much deliberate force to break it. Which is why I mainly use the Luigi for everyday shooting, and reserve the old classic case for occasional use only. Your's however looks hardy enough for any outing. Thanks for the update! Charles

Hey, thanks, Charles.

The strap is fantastic! It is 3/4" wide and the length works out great for hanging on my shoulder. It fits really well across the chest diagonally and makes it very easy to bring the camera up to eye level for shooting. I am really surprised!

The leather was super stiff when I brought it home but it has started breaking in really fast and now is a joy to grab and carry.

I really can't think of anything that could make it better except maybe an embossed name or initials.

That is a really nice job, Dave. Can I send you my case and $20? :)

Just kidding... I'll look for something around here, but you were very, very lucky indeed.
