'Thought it might be nice to compile a list of some of the most beautiful original prints that are available for viewing at local libraries and universities.

I'll start. Feel free to contribute.


A stunning limited edition -- one of only two hundred sixty copies -- of fifteen original gelatin silver prints mounted on what appears to be 16" x 20" board, by Ansel Adams. Louisiana State University Library, Special Collections, Rare Book Room, in Baton Rouge -- Ansel Adams "What majestic word; in memory of Russell Varian." Library call number: TR650 .A2

This is what inspired me when I was just starting to learn how to print. I still consider it the gold standard.

A Gallery on Chartres in the French Quarter of New Orleans is an excellent museum where everything is for sale. Want to see an Ansel Adams "Moonrise Hernandez"? Want to buy one? Like everything else, bring you wallet. Just about everyone famous has something in there.

I believe the only good reason to visit the French Quarter.
