i came across this lens here:
orion-15 in kiev | contax mount

if i recall correctly, the orion-15 in kiev mount is much rarer than its counterpart in ltm. the seller has listed it as an ltm lens, however.

i’m not affiliated with him and i don’t mess with kiev | contax things, but seeing the starting price, it could be a bargain for someone interested in it. i know, mentioning it here defies the bargain point, but then again, another seller offers the lens for much more, so there.

You're a very generous person. He also had one with a BIN option. I'll soon be able to test it on one of my kievs. It will join my J3, J8, J9, J11 and J12. Now what am I still missing? An early Zorki lens? An Helios 103? Where there FSU collapsable lenses for Kievs? ;)

Wim

sounds so interesting, what a pity that I must think of money for my trip ... but as we say in french (and italian too) all knots come to the comb... one day maybe!

I think there was a collapsible ZK Sonnar 50/2 once. However it doesn't have a great reputation.

(Sorry if I make you spend money.)

Cameosis, thanks for head-ups!

Wim, there were collapsible J-8/ZK for Kievs, and H-103 is a must have. Also, make sure to look at all these nice Zeiss and 3rd party Contax-mount lenses.. :)

I have the Orion 15 in LTM, its a lovely lens, it was the first accessory lens I ever bought . I got it in Leningrad in 1967. Apart from ther mount the other differences between the LTM and Kiev versions are that, the Kiev version is not coupled to the R/F whereas the LTM version is. Also the LTM version takes 40.5 mm filters, the Kiev takes 49mm filters. I sold my Kiev version long ago, too cheaply it now seems!
Sadly they never issued the 20mm Russar in Kiev mount, although some faked ones are about.

Hmmm. I've SEEN the lens on a Kiev, but never used it. Seems to me that there are far better alternatives for wide angle solutions in that mount... As a Metrogon copy, it's going to be dark.

Otherwise, if it sells for that- it's not too expensive. I've seen Orions go for $300.

I got an Orion 15 LTM from Jocko a while back. I bought the Voigtlander screwmount adapter for M series and fired it into a M4P it's a nice lens but how many does a sane guy need?? LoL!

Hey, don't question my sanity  . As the turret finder has a finder for 28mm, I tought it a good idea to add it to the collection. But it might have been reasonable to stay in LTM land, in stead of starting a parallel collection of Kiev stuff :bang: .
You now, I keep typing in 'Russar' in the Ebay search-field, hoping to find one below 200 Euros...

heh, Wim.. I understand because I've been there LoL! Good for you.

I wish I had the monies for a 28mm lens in contax mount... anyway if you seek a russar, there are two available here in a shop with their 20mm viewfinder. Price is , if I remember well, still 10.500 CZK (czech crowns).

The 28mm is showing up as "located in Prague", so I asked the selller if it's possible to pick it up in town, but he said he'd send only by regular mail (seems more accurate with ebay/paypal safe trade policies I bet).

Who else had made 3rd party lens for kiev apart from FSU, Zeiss, Nikon and CV?
Angineux, Meyer, Goerz, Berthiot, Tokina?

EDIT: And there was Zunow 50/1.1 of course.

I see our friend Eugene is bidding on the lens, so let's all wish him good luck! I won't bid on it then, mate! :)
Thanks Max, very generous from you :) Am not holding my breath tho, that's eBay :)

I was split between getting CV 28 or 25 this year, but if I get the Orion, I could still hope for the 25 for xmas..

Hi John,

I thought I read somewhere that there was a short run of Russar 20mm lenses in Kiev mount??? Anyway I have two pics from an ebay auction from quite some time ago that supposedly shows a Russar 20mm mounted to a Contax I. Not sure how the focus works, perhaps fixed focus at infinity?

I have never come across any of these, are they quite cheap or are they collector's item? I am in the market for a Tessa based lens for my Kiev and I am just looking for something cheap.
