Ambitious, but rubbish

This post is copied and pasted directly from another forum. Admittedly, I don't know much about the issue at hand yet but it certainly seems important, and worthy of your interest:
Many of you may have heard about the efforts to essentially steal copyrighted images on the basis of them being "orphaned". That is, if the person or organization wanting to use an image for free can't find the copyright holder by means they (the image thief) think(s) is reasonable, this bill would allow them to do so.
It appears the proponents have gotten it approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee behind closed doors. And, the House will be voting on their version, as well.
If you oppose this idea, you should contact your senators and representatives immediately, even if you have done so in the past. The link below provides an easy method of doing so.
