Good day guys, I have got a roll of old film come in an old soviet era camera, i re-roll it reverse onto another spool in the dark so I can figure out what kind of film it might be from the leader (see picture), but the only label identifying it is "ORWO 16 DIN", is this black and white film?

googling around seems there is another ORWO UT 16 DIN but it sure does not look like this one.

Orwo never had a 16 DIN black and white film. It will be Orwo NC 16 - the oldest Orwo branded, still unmasked, colour negative film (until the mid sixties they had operated as Agfa just like their Western counterpart). As it was parallel to the more modern masked NC 18, it was not made for long, until the late sixties or early seventies. It was processed in the original Agfacolor process. There are only maybe two or three special labs worldwide which can still recreate that process, for a lot of money, and with no warranty that it will result in anything visible. If it is just some anonymous camera, don't waste your time and money on it - you are at least as likely to arrive at some visible result if you pop it in some black and white developer and process for the average time for low sensitivity film...

Good to know! I figure if it's black and white I probably just dunk it in D76, if it's not I'll just leave it as is. I doubt there is anything important on it such as the location of the lost ark :)
