LensWork is, imho, a great little "magazine" - the size is perfect for taking it with you no matter where you go and the articles and printing is superb.

So why am I disappointed?

Many of you will recall the previous year's "end of year special" that they had running where the subscription rate was a GREAT deal. I got in just under the wire on December 31 and waited for delivery.

I figured that I would get my first issue sometime near the end of January.
Then I figured, oh, well, it must be coming near the middle of February.
I then decided to check my "status" as per my confirmation email (that was this morning, Feb 22). Imagine my surprise when I noted the status was still in "pending". I've since fired off an email to the email address listed in the initial LensWork communication asking what the deal is. Seeing as how I've paid for a subscription; it would be kind of nice to begin receiving it soon no? 🙂

Has anyone else had issues with getting their copies of LensWork?

Cheers
Dave

Nope. Mine have been arriving when they are supposed to. What I like most about the publication is that it is very image-heavy. Print quality is great; I think the most helpful thing in developing one's own vision of the world is to spend a lot of time looking at images that work. I don't love every photographer that LW publishes, but the stuff that does work. Ooomph. I have found them to be very personable to deal with. Why not give them a call?

You want I should go and rough Brooks up a bit? The Lenswork office is a mile or so from me.

Seriously though, Brooks and Maureen (his wife) are very nice people. Give them a call.

Thanks Josh,

I'll just wait to see if they can explain what's going on via Email - if not.. I'll be placing a call tomorrow (as the phone number and reference information is at home and I'm at work) 🙂

Cheers
Dave

I went for that great deal too, mid-december. I got a cd soon after, but haven't gotten a mag yet. Sometimes I wonder what happened, but I just assumed I was a victim of some sort of fraud. I'll drop them an email.

I tried to subscribe to the extended version online, but the online feature wasn't working, so I called their number. A woman picked up on the first ring, and took my subscription. I had my first "magazine" within a week. The woman didn't seem to know that online feature wasn't working, until I told her. This was back in mid/late January.

[edit: I had the option of receiving the current/last edition, or waiting for the next edition. I chose the current/last edition, which is why I received mine so soon.]

Dave, I started a new subscription with that deal too and got my first issue a couple (few?) weeks ago. I opted to get the next issue in line (#62 I guess) instead of the one that was current at the time (#61). A Canadian thing maybe?

I can imagine that it may be a "Canadian" thing if my name was.. oh.. Joe 😀 but it's not... so I would like to think that it's not a Canadian thing.

I got an email back from them but there's no explanation as to where the initial issue is... looks like it's time to call.

DOH!!

Nevermind 🙁 My bad.. it's STARTING with #63 as you had suggested Chris.
Just seems sort of odd to start so far ahead when I put in my order so long ago.. oh well.. looks like I'm going to have to go out and hunt one down because I hate missing a copy in my library.

Cheers and thanks for the input guys,
Dave
