Ok, I go down to St Vinnies looking for a light meter as I lost the auction for the Pilot 2. Nada. I get back into the car and a couple of blocks later notice a new thrift shop.
I go in and it's mostly cheap trash. I see a couple of cheap P&Ss and am about to leave when I see a lens cap poking up out of a bag. I take it down and lo, a Pentax K1000 with a 35 to 135 zoom on it. Interesting. Its dirty but the shutter speeds seem right, I find the f2/50 in a pocket of the bag, needs a new battery, but all-in-all, its a good example of a manual SLR that runs ~$50 to $100 on the bay. No price tag. Fearing the worst I take it to the checkout counter. He has to telephone the boss and gets the price.
$27.50.
Needless to say, I snagged and ran giggling to my car. I think I now have my young friend's christmas present...
