OT: Fishing and photography; but not catch photos

Are you guys sure you want me in? 🙂 We don't have any white water trout fishing grounds here in Amsterdam. I usually (IF I go fishing) just some stickleback or rock bass. If I'm lucky some bream. Never even caught a pike. 😛

Hi RML

absolutely! It just has to be about the event of fishing not the fish. So take your camera and catch a moment or two. I've been to Holland once and coincidentally it was for the FlyFair , held at Hattem on the River IJssel. Fishing was for grayling and pike.

I have a friend who goes to Mongolia to fish for Taimen, now there is one huge fish to go after. Maybe next time you are in Mongolia take a shot of the rivers where they are found.

So don't worry show the RFF your best stuff.

cheers, Jan

OK. Then I'm in. 🙂

Jan, I've gotta admit that I've been slacking with our fishing shots.. it was wayyyyy too hot here for the past 3 weeks (temps in the 90s, occasionally over 100 degrees F.. that's the mid 30s for you celcius weirdos 😉 )

but now it's back to normal weather and I plan to do some fishing for the next month.. the problem is that I'll do most of it alone, so you won't be seeing many shots of fishermen gearing up, unfortunately.. but I'll do what I can 🙂

here are some 'fishing not fish shots'

Hi all to everyone on this thread, here are my efforts for the fishing no fish shots. I have a couple more in colour which I'll post tomorrow due to the limitations on posting now. These two are shots in BW using Kodak C41 BW ISO 400; using an Olympus RC at 250/f16

cheers, Jan

dangit.. you just had to post these photos the day after the season ended here.. I was hoping to get out one more time last Sunday but we had torrential rain on and off all day

I guess I ought to drop off some film today and see if I can add some more visuals to this thread

btw, nice shots, Jan.. I really like the second one.. waiting for the strike, is he?

here are some plants on a trail as we hiked further downstream.. and a final shot of us packing up literally after sunset

btw, I caught the last fish of the day.. a 14" brown.. after the sun went down.. it was a good day

Now if we were talking about fishing, iknow practically nothing about fishing, so that day i spent a while observing these guys...But i've got my own equipemnt, and i'm ready to try it!

Brett nice shots! I like the shots in the three sequential posts as follows; I/3 , II/3, III/2 Make sense? Looks really pretty, and I love the end of the day shot a the car! This set tells it all. Nicely done set.
