Well, i know, it's not a rangefinder, but still glad to announce-
:D i've just bought a rolleiflex automat 2 (or 3?), tessar 3.5, from a photo.net member living in Switzerland. Taffer's find, but he was nice enough to pass it to me. Perfectly working user camera, plus some accessories :D
I just realized i can't live without a TLR. (hehh)
 
Congratulations. When I get my Darkroom set back up, I will give the Medium Format a try again. If that does not get you into doing your own B&W, What will!

I sold my Rolleiflex Automat I some time ago, gave great results. I have a Kodak TLR with an Ektar lens. Gotta respool 120 onto my 620 reels.
 
Oh c'mon! Can't you guys shut up?! You guys are making it more difficult for me. My R2 starts to falling apart and there is this temptation to get either a Rolleiflex, 'Blad 501CM or Leica. Problem is, my wallet can't even afford 1/4 of the price of one! :mad:
 
Kris,- i ain't too rich neither (otherwise i would have bought Gene's 3.5 Planar 'flex)
- this Automat setup cost me euro 120, that's about two lens hoods for a Leitz lens! Anyway, your motto says "2 camera 4 lenses & Happy" :)

Mine could read "Inundated and bailing"
 
I've been attacked by GAS lately. :D

But my R2 really is self-destructing. The rubber coverings came off already. There is a big dust spec in the RF assembly creating dark shadow on RF patch at around 5m setting. The film door retainer is wobbly (that metal strip right under the PC socket). Also the light seal where the hinge for film door is came off completely.

Hopefully it lasts long enough till my saving can afford either an M, or a 'Blad or 'Flex. If i's the Blad or Flex I'm getting, guess I will be banned from RFF. :D
 
I just passed on the chance to get a Rolleicord with Xenar lens on Austrian Ebay for 99 Euros - looked tempting, buth then, I already have a nice Yashicamat, and rarely use that one... Just too big to lug around all the time.

Hey Kris, why not sending it out for a CLA ? You may get a M2 and find that it needs one anyway... You may recover it in nice black leather while you're on it, or maybe red snakeskin :D

I seriously think the recent bargains I found are the compensation for those 270 Euros I paid some years ago for my Rolleicord Va, but alas this is Spain and I was not familiar at all with buying overseas back then :(

I was tempted, but I already own a mint Rolleiflex T, which I don't use as much as I'd like to...

Kai is OK - I bought some stuff from him, among which a (really) beat up Hektor for 25 EUR :)

What in the world are you doing to that poor thing? If you get desparate tempt me to sell you my R2 at a fair US price which apparently is much better than you can find down under. But then I may turn around and buy the M2 you want and you will end up mad at me.

Skip the 501cm in favor of more reasonably priced 500cm or 500c. Not every Rolleiflex is a 2.8 F either, a good D will run much less and still perform wonderfully.

Disclaimer: I never subject my R2 to any physical or sexual abuse. :D

I think it's everyday vibration from car/tram/bus that shook loose that fim door retainer. The rubber covering was attached to the body by double-sided sticky tape and I think it's the sweat from my hand that soften the glue. We live under extreme heat here Down Under. :)

Thanks for the offer Ralph but I'm sure this R2 will last another two years minimum. It looks down right ugly without the rubber covering and the dust in RF assembly is annoying but it still take pictures.

BTW, M2 is not my preference. I need a camera with meter and AE mode can be useful from time to time. Hmmm how long will it take to save up for an M7? :D
