OT - I'm alive if not kicking (Sorry long post)

Glad you're ok (ish). It is incredible how the mind speeds up in situations like these isn't it? Hence the feeling of it all happening in slow motion and near complete recall of the chain of events. Must be a survival trait to allow us to react to save ourselves. (I have been in a similar situation).

Now, as someone else said, sue an M7 TTL and tri elmar out of him! ;)

What an experience! Good to hear that you came out of it without serious injuries, this could have been much worse.

And have your knee checked! When it's cold outsid I need a cane due to knee problems from an accident I had more than 20 years ago.

Glad you are Okay. I'm lucky enough to set my hours very early and to be able to park at work. DC traffic is insane, and the drivers are worse. Every day I'm amazed at I95, and I hit it at 4:30am.

Was it a hit and run or did the person stop and offer you assistance?

What kind of martial arts? I do bagua/Shaolin.

Yes, he stopped or I would have been in more trouble since he hit me with the front of his car and I slid to the front of his car before it completely stopped.

My martial art is Hapkido. Thank God for it as I am in better shape than I would be without it.

Yeah, I hit it (I-95) anywhere from 5:30 to 6:00 am. We have parking, but mine is across the street from the building. It sure wasn't the way I wanted my day to be. In fact, I think I remember that brief thought while I was bouncing around the hood, or just after I landed, that I hadn't planned that for my day.

Glad to hear you're (mostly) OK. Follow the sound advice copcake_ham gave you. As a former police officer (crash investigator) and a private investigator, I'd add that from this point forward, DO NOT talk any further about the accident to anyone, remember, everything we type on the internet can be found anytime by anyone who wants to find it. Be sure not to say anything later either in person to someone, or here, like: "Well, maybe I should have looked behind me." (I know you shouldn't have, I'm just giving an example) A simple thing like that can be the difference between success and failure in your suit.

Bobofish, I was also in a similar crash when I was 15 and know how scary it must have been for you. I'd remind everyone that if a hit-run happens to you and the other driver gets away, that there's a very good chance that he is on a regular route. The police, you, or someone you hire, should sit by the side of that road for a while, and yes, a lot of times the car drives right by the same time the next day, next week, etc. Also- that old guy probably wasn't more than a half mile from his house, someone could have tried to find him if deemed necessary.

Best of luck in your recovery, let us know how you make out from here on, but DON'T say "I'm fine"! :D (for obvious reasons)!

Thanks George S. and all others for advice and expressions of good will. For now I am just taking it as it comes, and trying to see how my different parts will heal. Amazing how many of you have also been so unfortunate. I hope all of you healed well.

Socke I understand your pain. My wife is like that. For two or three days before a weather change, she suffers more pain than usual. It doesn't improve life enjoyment nor her disposition, although she tries her best to cope.

Get to those witnesses, and have your lawyer check the guys cell phone records. Dollars to doughnuts he had his ear glued to a cell phone when he hit you.

Good Lord! You're incredibly fortunate to be coherent and at home instead of a hospital or morgue.

Please listen to copake-ham!

#1 Get a lawyer - NOW

I'd strongly advise you to get to the ER or a Dr., but the lawyer will see to that end.

Please don't sit at home and wait to see how you heal. My best friend was struck by a hit and run driver and only went to the Dr. months later when her face wouldn't stop hurting. It ended up being a hairline fracture of the jaw.
