Please forgive an OT post;

Took this shot today in my front yard with my new Pentax *ist DS. The lens is a Kodak Aero-Ektar 7 inch f/2.5 which I boogered up with a focusing mount and the P/K-M42 adapter on the DSLR. Shot wide-open on a tripod (who could hand-hold this monster?). This lens hacking is fun stuff.

No Photoshop jiggery-pokery, either. Just lined up the geranium in front of a day lillie and let shallow DOF do the rest.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

VERY NICE!

Post over at the DSLR site as well. It is "slowly" picking up...Needs more stuff like this!

Thanks for the kind words - I will post it on DSLR. By the way, just FYI, the Aero-Ektar is a WWII bomber camera lens. It's cool. Same lens that David Burnett put on a Speed Graphic last year and covered the presidential elections with.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

I have a Perkin-Elmer 12" F4 lens that is probably off of an RF101. I need to do something with it!

Bill, that's veeeeery nice 🙂

I've been thinking of getting an Aero Ektar myself - the same FL as yours (7 in.)... I'd like to use it on the 4x5 Speed Graphic for the shallow DOF.... We'll see 🙂
The postage will be enormous, though 🙁

Anyway, don't be shy, show us some more 😉
